Universal Declaration of Nature’s Rights…

We are at a crossroad, a turning point where the paramount question is no longer how we treat each other, but how we treat the delicate balance of the biosphere that supports us.

How we treat this mass we from time to time call mother earth will determine whether, the human species as a whole, will continue to exist in the universe.

We no longer are simply subjects of the forces of nature. We because of our numbers are now a force of nature.

In the past cultures that where close to nature, showed a reverence that spoke of being at one with nature. Meaning not disturbing a twig in passing or taking more than what one needed for one’s self or family. That connection to the ways of the elders is sadly lacking today.

We have the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to protect living human beings. We also have, and I know It’s an odd self absorbed term, humane societies to protect the rights of animals.

The question is; is mother earth not a living entity, and is it not time a Universal Declaration of Nature’s Rights is drafted and defended by law with the same weight and force as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

It’s now time to decide where in history we will be remembered as standing on the greatest issues mankind has ever faced. We stand on the threshold “a narrow time frame” of a few years, to correct the problems that took centuries to create. Are we going to continue to focus in on the “small wonder, self absorbed, vain-glorious, self-aggrandising, narrow minded, personal, family, and tribal narcissistic habits of the past“. Or as a global family compassionately take responsibility for the devastation our sense gratification is causing and will cause; as we can predict already; hundreds of millions of humans and perhaps billions of human beings around the world as time marches on.
